Frederick Ehrenfried Adolph2 NEHLS Captain (72) He was born on 11 Jun 1881 at Brudersdorf, Germany. Ran away from Germany as a youth to escape conscription into the Prussian Army. He began his sea career before the mast, rising through personal effort and intelligence to finally hold worldwide "Deep Sea Masters Papers". He began his career as a Panama Canal pilot prior to the formal opening of the Canal. Throughout the years, except for time out to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War I, he served as a Pilot on the Canal. His first marriage ended with the death of his wife; and subsequently, he married for the second time to Mary's mother. His career ended tragically with his death from an accident concurrent with his retirement in l943 in the Canal Zone. He held the rank of Maritime Captain, and Lt. Commander in the USN Reserve (required to serve as a Pilot on the Canal). He died on 1 Apr 1943 at Balboa, Canal Zone, at age 61. He was buried at Golden Gate National Cem., San Bruno, California, Sec. R Gr.#1349. He married Halycon Hartency LOUIS O.E.S. (74) on 9 Jun 1906 at Port Townsend, Jefferson, WASHINGTON
